Kindness Counseling was established to help older teens  and adults tackle some of life’s major changes and challenges. Therapy sessions can be conducted in the comfort of the Winter Springs office or online, depending upon the most current COVID-19 safety protocols.

Therapists at Kindness Counseling begin by understanding clients’ therapy goals, then seek to understand what has and hasn’t worked in the past and why. Masters at asking the right questions, they lead clients through a self-discovery journey that helps them outline new chapters for their lives that include:

Anxiety & Depression

Often two sides of the same coin, anxiety affects nearly 40 million adults in the United States and 17.3 million adults have reported having at least one major depressive episode. This has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 crisis, responsible for situations like financial stress and job loss to social isolation and paralyzing fear. Fortunately, there are proven coping mechanisms that can significantly lessen the impacts of anxiety and depression.

 

Relationship Problems

Personal relationships are key to our overall happiness, but it’s perfectly normal to experience bumps along the way. Interpersonal Conflicts

Trauma

Trauma is a debilitating emotional response to a tragic event like an accident, rape, extended period of stress or natural disaster. Following the event, shock and denial are normal. However, trauma can manifest itself in many ways throughout one’s life like unexpected emotions, flashbacks, relationship difficulties or even illnesses. Treating trauma is a delicate, highly individualized process that typically begins by exploring root of the complex emotions. 

 

Adult ADHD

Diagnosing ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) in children has become somewhat commonplace, however, recognizing it adults is far more difficult. Adults with ADHD typically have trouble completing tasks, seem restless and are often impulsive. Diagnosis is the key to finding the right coping mechanisms and medications to channel all of that energy in a positive way.

 

College Experiences​

The college years used to be known as a free-wheeling rite of passage. For most people, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
